Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, it was always emphasized that being yourself is okay. We have the wonderful opportunity to find ourselves in nature instead somewhere a little more artificial. However, while we certainly enjoy the lush, mossy forests of the Rockies, I think some people are ignorant to the fact that the city is where one's heart may lie, or at least partially. My collaging is nothing special although it does mean a great deal to me. I view it as the other side of me, the side that might come out if I were to live in San Francisco rather than Bellingham. Like any artist might say about their work, mine is simply an expression of who I am and what I feel.
